Inspection checklist

Toyota Corolla 1.8 Hybrid e-CVT

Print it or open it on your phone before viewing the car. Tick every fault you find at the seller or the inspector.

Enter the mileage and the faults common at that mileage are highlighted.

Known faults: tick the ones you find

Service history: ask for records

Ask for the service book or invoices. These items should have been done on time:

  • Engine oil + oil filter (every 15,000 km / every 12 months)
  • Hybrid battery cooling fan filter (every 30,000 km / every 24 months)
  • Hybrid system check (every 15,000 km / every 12 months)
  • Inverter coolant (every 160,000 km / every 120 months)
  • Pollen filter (every 15,000 km / every 12 months)
  • Spark plugs (iridium) (every 90,000 km)
  • Brake fluid (every 36 months)

Check on the test drive

  • Start the engine cold: there should be no smoke, shaking or odd noises.
  • With the ignition on, all warning lights should flash once and then none should stay lit.
  • The brakes should not shudder, pull or squeal.
  • On a straight road the car should not drift when you loosen the wheel; there should be no thuds or creaks over bumps.
  • The air conditioning and all electrical equipment (windows, mirrors, multimedia) should work.
  • Gear changes should be smooth; there should be no judder or slipping when pulling away.
  • Hybrid/electric: ask for the high-voltage battery health report; charging and range figures should match expectations.
