Full hybrid (HEV)
Petrol engine + electric motor. At low speed it can drive on electricity alone, and it recharges itself when braking; it is not plugged in. Very economical in city driving.
Dual-clutch transmission (DCT / DSG / EDC)
An automatic gearbox with two separate clutches. Gear changes are very fast and efficient. "Dry" types tend to overheat and shudder in heavy stop-and-go traffic.
