The world's best-selling electric car. It has sold heavily in Turkey since 2023. Its strengths are a large interior, a powerful Supercharger network and software updates. The most common criticisms are the firm suspension, assembly quality and lack of physical buttons. (The 2025 facelifted 'Juniper' version will be added as a separate generation.)

- Power Engine power (horsepower / PS) Determines how quickly the car can accelerate and its top speed. For city driving, 90-130 hp is enough; if you overtake often on the highway, anything above 150 hp feels comfortable.
- 534 hp
- Torque Torque (Nm) The engine's "pulling force". High torque feels strong at low revs: the car does not struggle on hills, when loaded, or when setting off. You can think of power as how fast you can go, and torque as how easily the car accelerates.
- 660 Nm

Performance and range
- 0-100 km/h 0-100 km/h acceleration The time it takes to reach 100 km/h from a standstill. Over 12 seconds is considered relaxed, 8-10 seconds lively, and under 6 seconds very fast.

Battery and charging
- Battery (net) Battery capacity (kWh) The "tank" size of an electric car. Roughly: kWh ÷ consumption (kWh/100 km) × 100 = range. Net (usable) capacity is what matters.
- 75 kWh
- Battery chemistry LFP / NMC battery LFP batteries last longer and charging to 100% is fine, but they are slightly weaker in cold weather. NMC batteries pack more energy (longer range); for daily use, charging to 80-90% is recommended.
- NCM / NCA (nickel-based)
- Range (WLTP) WLTP The official fuel consumption and range test standard used in Europe. It is carried out in a laboratory; in real use, consumption is usually 10-25% higher (and range is lower for EVs).
- 514 km
- Charging port
- CCS2 (DC), Type 2 (AC)
- AC charging power AC charging Home wall chargers or slower public stations. The car's built-in charger limits the speed (e.g. 11 kW = roughly 60-70 km of range per hour).
- 11 kW
- DC fast charging power DC fast charging Fast charging stations along the road. The higher the maximum kW the car supports, the faster it charges. The time from 10% to 80% is the most practical measure.
- 250 kW
- DC 10-80% time
- ~27 min
- Home 0-100% (AC)
- ~8 hours
In real-world use, 19-24 kWh/100 km.

- Wheelbase Wheelbase The distance between the centers of the front and rear wheels. A longer wheelbase generally means more rear legroom and a more stable ride.
- 2,890 mm
- Ground clearance Ground clearance The distance between the lowest point of the car and the ground. Important for speed bumps, bad roads and curbs. Under 140 mm is considered low; over 170 mm is considered high.

- Rim size
- 21"
- Spare tire
- No spare / kit
- Tire pressure (front / rear) Tire pressure Correct pressure is important for both safety and consumption. Measure tires when they are cold (after the car has been parked for at least 2-3 hours). Check once a month.
- 2.9 / 2.9 bar
- Front brakes Disc / drum brakes Disc brakes are stronger and resist heat better. Drum brakes are usually used at the rear of small cars; they are cheap and long-lasting.
- Performance brakes, red caliper (355 mm)
- Rear brakes Disc / drum brakes Disc brakes are stronger and resist heat better. Drum brakes are usually used at the rear of small cars; they are cheap and long-lasting.
- Ventilated disc (335 mm)
- Front suspension MacPherson suspension The most common front suspension type. Simple, light and cheap; it provides enough comfort for most cars.
- Double wishbone, lowered
- Rear suspension Multi-link suspension An advanced rear suspension that controls each wheel independently and precisely. More comfortable on bad roads and more balanced in corners.
- Multi-link, lowered
- Steering
- Electric power-assisted
21" wheels are vulnerable to curbs and potholes.
Safety
Euro NCAP 2022 Euro NCAP An independent European crash test organization. 5 stars is the highest rating. Since tests get tougher over time, also consider the test year: a 5-star rating from 2016 is not the same as a 5-star rating from 2024.

Maintenance
- Service interval
- No fixed service interval; maintenance is item by item
- Coolant
- Tesla G-48 glycol-based coolant
- Brake fluid Brake fluid Transfers the force from the brake pedal to the wheels. Over time it absorbs moisture and its boiling point drops, so it should be replaced every 2-3 years regardless of mileage.
- DOT 3 · Every 48 months
- Battery Battery types (AGM / EFB) Cars with start-stop systems need durable EFB or AGM batteries. Replacing them with a standard battery will cause it to fail quickly. On some premium brands, the car must be told about a new battery after it is replaced.
- 16V lithium-ion low-voltage battery + high-voltage battery

Phantom braking
Severity: MediumWith adaptive cruise control or Autopilot on, the car can brake suddenly with no real obstacle. It has become less frequent with software updates but has not disappeared completely. NHTSA opened investigation PE22-002 in 2022 (2021-2022 Model 3/Y, 695,000 vehicles); the investigation was closed in 2026 without requiring action from the manufacturer and was found to be low risk.
Symptoms: Sudden deceleration on empty roads, especially under bridge shadows and when trucks approach from the opposite direction.

-
Heat pump failure (in cold weather)
Severity: MediumLoss of cabin heating in very cold weather, linked to the heat pump/octovalve, has been reported; most of it has been fixed with software updates.
Symptoms: Cabin doesn't heat up; 'A/C system performance low' warning.
Whole generation At every mileage Estimated cost: 0 – 40,000 ₺
-
Clicking/creaking from the front suspension
Severity: LowNoise from the front upper control arm (upper control arm) bushings is a well-known issue on the Model 3/Y. It is replaced under warranty.
Symptoms: Knocking/creaking over bumps at low speed and when turning the steering wheel.
Whole generation 20,000 – 80,000 km Estimated cost: 8,000 – 20,000 ₺
-
Assembly quality and panel gaps
Severity: LowUneven panel gaps around doors and tailgate, paint defects and trim squeaks are common, especially in early production.
Symptoms: Uneven gaps between tailgate and fender, wind noise.

Water leaks in the trunk and roof
Severity: LowOn some cars, leaks from the rear trunk seal or panoramic glass roof have been reported.
Symptoms: Water in the boot floor after rain, dampness at the roof edge.
Whole generation At every mileage Estimated cost: 0 – 10,000 ₺
Recalls Recall When a manufacturer calls cars in to the service because of a safety or quality issue. The repair is free. When buying a used car, ask the service whether it has been done.
- 2024 · Hood latch detection fault (NHTSA 24V-554) — On the 2020-2024 Model Y (1.8 million+ vehicles in total, including the 2021-2024 Model 3/S/X), the hood latch may fail to detect that the hood is not fully locked; the hood could then fly open and block the driver's view. Fixed with a free OTA software update (owners notified in September 2024).
- 2023 · Steering wheel attachment bolt (NHTSA 23V-385) — In May 2023, in the US, it was found that the steering wheel attachment bolt may not have been tightened enough on some 2022-2023 Model Y cars (built roughly June 2022-May 2023, 137 vehicles); the check and, if needed, bolt replacement were done free of charge at Tesla service.
